Authorized Essency install & service
"On-demand tank." 80-gallon first-hour rating, 30+ year designed life, smart Wi-Fi control.
Essency builds a different kind of residential water heater: an "on-demand tank" that combines the steady delivery of a storage tank with the on-demand heating of a tankless unit. The EXR and EXR-D models hit an 80-gallon first-hour rating (nine consecutive hot showers without temperature drift), use a heat-exchanger design that keeps stored water separate from the water you actually use, and carry a 30+ year designed service life thanks to an advanced polymer build that lasts roughly 3x longer than a metal tank. Titan is the authorized Tampa installer for both Essency models.
- EXR and EXR-D residential models
- 80-gallon first-hour rating, nine consecutive hot showers
- SmartCore Technology, detects demand and heats fresh water on the fly
- Heat exchanger keeps stored water separate from delivered water (no scale mixing into your shower)
- Polymer construction, designed for 30+ years of service, 3x longer than a metal tank
- Wi-Fi connected with a touchscreen panel and the MyEssency app
What "on-demand tank" actually means
A traditional tank stores hot water and lets it sit. A traditional tankless heats cold water as it flows by. Essency does something in the middle: it stores water at temperature, but when you open a hot tap the SmartCore system heats fresh inbound water through a separate heat exchanger and feeds that to the fixture, while the stored water tops up the delivery temperature. You get the steady output and high first-hour rating of an 80-to-100-gallon tank, with the on-demand freshness of a tankless and a footprint closer to a 50-gallon unit.
Built to outlast a steel tank
A standard glass-lined steel tank in Tampa hard water averages 8 to 10 years before pinhole corrosion ends its life. The Essency body is built from an advanced polymer, no glass lining to crack, no steel to rust through, no anode rod to replace every five years. The manufacturer designs for 30+ years of service. Practical translation: the unit is a longer-horizon purchase priced more like an appliance than a consumable.
MyEssency app, what it actually controls
The Wi-Fi connection unlocks four named modes through the MyEssency app. Vacation drops the setpoint and idles the unit while you're away. Boost forces full heating ahead of a known peak (holidays, guests). Water Saver tunes the setpoint to your typical demand pattern over the week. Heat+ runs full output for fast recovery. The app also pushes early-warning alerts when the unit detects a maintenance condition (sensor drift, flow irregularities), which lets us schedule the visit before something fails.
Why this design matters in Tampa's hard water
Most of the cost of owning a residential water heater in Tampa is the slow damage Tampa hard water does to it: scale on the elements, sediment at the base, corrosion on the anode. The Essency heat exchanger keeps the water you actually use isolated from the stored water, so scale and sediment never reach your shower or your dishwasher even if they accumulate in the storage section. The polymer body removes the corrosion problem entirely.
