## Land O Lakes Electrical Services

A+ BBB · Licensed since 1994

[Land O Lakes](/service-areas/land-o-lakes/) electrical work is defined by three realities: a wide range of build eras (1970s ranches through 2020s master-planned communities), heavy reliance on private well pumps in the older acreage areas, and Pasco County's position in the lightning capital corridor of the United States. Every Land O Lakes electrical decision — panel sizing, [generator](/electrical/home-standby-generators/) sizing, [surge protection](/electrical/surge-protector/) layering, [EV charger](/electrical/ev-charger-installation/) circuit planning — runs through those three filters.

We work in Land O Lakes every week. The 1970s and early 1980s acreage homes off Collier Parkway, US 41, Bell Lake Road, and Ehren Cutoff typically have 100A or 150A service panels, often Federal Pacific Stab-Lok or original Cutler-Hammer, with no surge protection and a single-phase well pump on a 240V circuit. The 1990s subdivisions (Sable Ridge, Plantation Palms, Lake Bernadette early phases) typically have 150A or 200A panels with grounded service. The 2000s and 2010s master-planned communities (Connerton developed beginning 2004, Concord Station 2006, Stonegate 2005-2012, Wilderness Lake Preserve, Ballantrae) almost universally have 200A modern Square D QO or Eaton CH panels, full grounding electrode systems, and increasingly EV charger pre-wiring or panel-ready provisions.

Titan Plumbing and Electric is family-owned and has served the [Tampa](/service-areas/tampa/) Bay area, including Land O Lakes, since 1994. License numbers EC13012958 (electrical), CFC1430231 (plumbing), and CBC057910 (general contractor), all verifiable at myfloridalicense.com. ### Federal Pacific and Original Panel Replacements in Land O Lakes

Original 1970s and early 1980s Land O Lakes homes were often electrified through Federal Pacific Stab-Lok panels. A documented fire risk and an active insurance liability. Florida insurance carriers have been actively non-renewing on Federal Pacific panels for years. We replace these every week in Land O Lakes. The standard upgrade is a 200A Square D QO or Eaton CH main [breaker panel](/electrical/circuit-breaker-panel/) with Type 2 whole-home surge protection at the panel and combination AFCI/[GFCI](/electrical/gfci-outlet-switch/) breakers where code requires.

Original 1980s and 1990s Cutler-Hammer panels are quality panels and do not need to be replaced on age alone. After 30-40 years many are at or over capacity on a current load calculation. Adding an EV charger, a heat-pump pool heater, a [tankless water heater](/plumbing/tankless-water-heaters/), or a whole-home generator transfer switch to a 1985 or 1990 Land O Lakes panel often requires a panel upgrade or a smart load-management device.

We pull permits through Pasco County Building Construction Services, coordinate the Duke Energy or Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC) disconnect/reconnect (Land O Lakes is split between Duke and WREC depending on subdivision), and bring the grounding electrode system up to current NEC 250. That includes verifying or installing a ground rod or rods, bonding the metal water service (where applicable), bonding the gas line, and verifying the main bonding jumper at the panel.

We also remove and replace panel meter mains and meter sockets where the original is damaged, undersized, or non-conforming. The utility-side coordination is the slowest part of any Land O Lakes panel replacement, so we schedule the disconnect well in advance.

### Whole-Home Generator Installation in Land O Lakes

Land O Lakes loses power. Hurricane Milton, Hurricane Helene, and routine summer thunderstorms have all produced multi-day outages across Pasco County. The most consequential local fact: Land O Lakes well-water homes lose water immediately when the power goes out, because the submersible well pump stops. A 3-day outage on an unprotected Land O Lakes well-water home is a 3-day no-water home. Generator backup is not a luxury in Land O Lakes; it is core infrastructure.

We install Generac, Kohler, Briggs & Stratton, and Cummins air-cooled and liquid-cooled standby generators. Fuel options in Land O Lakes: natural gas where available (Connerton, Wilderness Lake Preserve, parts of Concord Station, and Collier Parkway corridor have gas mains; many acreage homes do not), or propane from a buried 250- or 500-gallon tank. We coordinate the propane tank install with a licensed Pasco County propane company.

Sizing for a typical Land O Lakes home: a 22kW air-cooled unit will run a 2,200-2,600 sq ft home with two AC compressors, the well pump, refrigeration, and lighting. Larger Land O Lakes homes in Connerton or Concord Station with three AC compressors, pool equipment, EV chargers, and outdoor kitchens often need 26-30kW or a liquid-cooled unit.

Setbacks: 5 feet from any door, window, or fresh-air intake; 18 inches from the structure on the long side; on a concrete or composite pad with proper drainage. Many Land O Lakes HOAs (especially Connerton, Lake Bernadette, Concord Station, and Stonegate) require architectural review for visible exterior generator installations, including screen-wall details and approved color palettes. We have walked these reviews for years and we do not order equipment until your HOA approval is in hand.

Every Land O Lakes generator install includes the automatic transfer switch (200A service-rated, typically), the load-side wiring or a load-management module if running essentials only, the gas or propane connection, the start-up and load-bank test, the Pasco County permit, and the warranty registration. We service Generac on weekly maintenance contracts as well.

### Well-Pump Electrical Service in Land O Lakes

Land O Lakes private-well homes depend on a 240V single-phase circuit feeding a submersible pump motor 60-200 feet downhole, with a pressure switch, a starting capacitor (on most modern submersibles, the capacitor is in a control box mounted near the pressure tank, not downhole), and the pressure tank itself. When any element of the electrical side fails, the well pump stops and the home loses water.

Common Land O Lakes well-pump electrical failures: pitted or corroded pressure switch contacts, blown capacitor in the control box (a Franklin Electric QD control box is the most common), failed start relay, breaker tripping at the panel from a developing motor short, and (rarest but most expensive) submersible motor failure that requires pulling the entire pump and drop pipe.

We diagnose with an amp clamp, a voltage meter at the pump leads, and resistance testing of the motor windings against ground. Most well-pump electrical failures are above-ground (control box, pressure switch, breaker) and we resolve same-day. Below-ground failures (pumping the pump) we coordinate with a licensed Pasco County well contractor, with us handling the electrical reconnection and any panel-side work.

A specific Land O Lakes recommendation: install a dedicated whole-home surge protector at the panel and a point-of-use surge device on the well-pump control circuit. Lightning-induced surges are the single most common reason a Land O Lakes well-pump capacitor fails prematurely, and a $200-300 surge layer protects a $1,500-3,000 well-pump replacement.

### Whole-Home Lightning and Surge Protection in Land O Lakes

Pasco County is in the lightning capital corridor of the United States. Afternoon thunderstorms light up the sky from June through September, and every storm produces both direct strikes and induced surges on the utility lines. Whole-home Type 2 surge protection at the panel is essential for any Land O Lakes home, and Type 3 point-of-use protection layered on top for AV racks, home networking, well-pump controls, and appliances with sensitive electronics (refrigerator inverter compressors, induction cooktops, heat-pump water heaters, variable-speed pool pumps).

We install Eaton Surge Protective Devices, Square D Surgebreaker, Siemens FirstSurge, and Leviton models depending on the panel brand. A modern Type 2 SPD at the panel has a kA rating (typically 50kA-100kA per phase) and an end-of-life indicator light, and lasts roughly 5-10 years in Land O Lakes's heavy lightning environment before the MOVs degrade and the indicator changes color. We replace SPDs proactively when the indicator flips.

For high-value Land O Lakes homes (the larger Connerton, Wilderness Lake Preserve, Concord Station custom homes), we layer a Type 1 SPD at the meter or service entrance ahead of the Type 2, providing utility-side protection in addition to load-center protection. A direct strike will still damage equipment, but the layered approach catches the much more common induced surges and extends equipment life across the home.

For acreage Land O Lakes homes with separate buildings (detached garage, barn, well house, pool equipment shed), each subpanel needs its own SPD. We see this overlooked constantly. The main panel is protected, the well house subpanel is not, and a strike comes in through the well house feeder and damages everything downstream.

### EV Charger Installation in Land O Lakes

Land O Lakes EV adoption has accelerated, especially in the master-planned communities. We install Tesla Wall Connectors, ChargePoint Home Flex, Wallbox Pulsar Plus, Emporia, JuiceBox, and hardwired NEMA 14-50 receptacles in Land O Lakes garages. Most installs run 30-48 amps on a dedicated 240V circuit per NEC 625.

In the newer Land O Lakes communities (Connerton, Concord Station, Stonegate, Wilderness Lake Preserve, Tierra Del Sol), the original builder often pre-wired a conduit and a 240V circuit to the garage, or at least left a 200A panel with adequate breaker space. These are the simplest installs: pull the conductors through the existing conduit, terminate at the new breaker, mount and commission the charger.

Older Land O Lakes homes (1970s-1990s acreage and earlier subdivisions) often need a panel upgrade or load-management device first. A 1985 home with a 100A or 150A panel running central AC, an [electric water heater](/plumbing/water-heater-services/), and a well pump cannot also support a 48A EV charger without exceeding panel capacity per NEC 220 load calculations. The right answer is usually a 200A panel upgrade as a single project, with the EV circuit installed at the same time.

For Land O Lakes homes considering two EV chargers (a two-EV household is increasingly common in these subdivisions), we install smart load-management devices (Wallbox Power Boost, ChargePoint Home Flex with load sharing, or panel-level systems like SPAN or Lumin) to allow both chargers to share a single feeder without exceeding panel capacity. This avoids a service upgrade in many cases.

We pull Pasco County electrical permits for every EV install, run conductors in conduit where exposed, and inspect the GFCI protection (NEC 625.54 requires GFCI for receptacle-style EV connections rated 150V to ground or less and 50A or less).

### Service Upgrades and Aluminum Branch Wiring in Land O Lakes

A subset of 1965-1973 Florida homes were wired with solid aluminum branch circuits. In Land O Lakes this is most common in the older Lake Padgett, Bell Lake, and Ehren Cutoff acreage homes that date from that era. Aluminum at terminations expands, contracts, and oxidizes; over decades, terminations loosen and overheat. Symptoms include warm cover plates, intermittent outlets, [flickering lights](/electrical/emergency-electrical/) at the switch, and occasionally the smell of hot plastic at devices.

We remediate with COPALUM crimps (the gold standard. Copper pigtails crimped onto the aluminum conductor with the AMP COPALUM tool, which is a specialty tool we own) or with CO/ALR-listed devices throughout. We do not recommend wire-nut-with-paste retrofits. They have a documented failure rate.

Florida insurance carriers have been asking specifically about aluminum branch wiring on policy renewals in Land O Lakes acreage homes. Some have non-renewed on it. Documented remediation is generally recognized as making the home insurable again.

### GFCI, AFCI, Tamper-Resistant Receptacles, and Smoke Detector Updates in Land O Lakes

1970s and 1980s Land O Lakes homes were originally built without GFCI protection in bathrooms, kitchens, garages, exterior outlets, and (where applicable) wet-bar locations. GFCI was not in the NEC for residential receptacles until 1971 (bathroom) and progressively expanded over decades to include kitchen counters (1987), exterior receptacles (1973), garages (1978), and unfinished basements (1990). Many original-condition Land O Lakes homes still have ungrounded two-prong receptacles in those locations. We retrofit GFCI-protected receptacles to current code and label them per NEC 406.4(D).

AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) protection is required by current code on most living-area circuits in new construction and major renovations. We install combination AFCI/GFCI breakers (dual-function CAFCI/GFCI) on circuits where retrofits are required by remodel scope, where the homeowner wants the additional protection, or where Pasco County requires it on a permit-driven update.

Tamper-resistant receptacles (TR) are required by NEC 406.12 on all 15A and 20A receptacles in dwelling units. Newer Land O Lakes master-planned community homes are fully TR. Older homes typically are not, and we replace receptacles with TR-rated devices as part of any remodel or panel-upgrade scope.

Hardwired interconnected smoke detectors with battery backup are required throughout living areas under current code. Many older Land O Lakes homes have battery-only or hardwired-but-not-interconnected smoke detectors. We install Kidde and First Alert hardwired interconnected sets with 10-year sealed lithium backup batteries, including combo CO/smoke detectors near sleeping areas. CO detectors are particularly important in Land O Lakes homes with attached garages and any home with a generator, gas water heater, or gas range.

### Pool, Spa, and Outdoor Equipment Wiring in Land O Lakes

A high percentage of Land O Lakes homes have screened pool enclosures, in-ground pools, and outdoor equipment (variable-speed pool pumps, salt cell systems, pool heaters, lighting, outdoor kitchens). Pool equipment wiring is governed by NEC 680 and is one of the most heavily code-regulated areas of residential electrical work.

Common Land O Lakes pool electrical work: replacing failed single-speed pool pump motors with NEC-compliant variable-speed pumps (required by federal DOE rules since 2021 for most pool pump applications), retrofitting older pool lights with low-voltage LED color-changing fixtures, installing GFCI protection at every pool-equipment receptacle (NEC 680.32), and bonding the pool deck, ladders, hand rails, and equipment per NEC 680.26 equipotential bonding.

On older Land O Lakes pools (1970s and 1980s vintage), the original equipotential bond is sometimes missing, broken, or never properly installed. We test continuity from the pool shell to the equipment ground and verify or replace the bond grid as needed. This is a safety-critical requirement and is often caught at insurance inspection or pre-sale inspection.

### Indoor and Outdoor Lighting in Land O Lakes

Land O Lakes has tens of thousands of homes with original 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s recessed cans, surface-mount fixtures, and outdoor floods that are due for LED upgrade. We retrofit existing cans to LED inserts (Halo, Lithonia, Juno), install can-less LED downlights where new locations are needed, and replace surface-mount fixtures with current designs.

[Outdoor lighting](/electrical/outdoor-lighting/) upgrades include LED security floods with motion and dusk-to-dawn sensors, low-voltage landscape lighting transformer and run replacements (Land O Lakes lakefront homes especially benefit from path and dock lighting), and LED post lights at front entries. Dock and waterfront wiring on Lake Padgett, Bell Lake, and the dozens of other named Land O Lakes lakes is governed by NEC 555 (marinas and boatyards) for any electrified dock with a slip; we do new docks and we re-wire failed dock circuits to current code.

Smart-home lighting is a growing Land O Lakes request. Lutron Caseta and Lutron RA2 Select retrofits, smart switches and dimmers, and integrated control with Sonos, Apple HomeKit, Google Home, and Amazon Alexa. We do clean retrofits that work with the existing wiring rather than tear-out-and-rewire installs.

### Permits, HOA, CDD, and Code in Land O Lakes

Land O Lakes is unincorporated Pasco County. Electrical permits run through Pasco County Building Construction Services. The Land O Lakes office is at 4111 Land O Lakes Boulevard (US 41), Suite 108, by appointment 8 AM-4 PM Monday-Friday. Permits are submitted electronically through the Pasco Gateway portal (Accela Citizen Access). Licensed trade contractors must pull their own trade permits, so we pull all electrical permits directly under our EC13012958 license.

Pasco County uses the Florida-amended NEC for all electrical work. Code references applied daily: NEC 230 (services), NEC 250 (grounding and bonding), NEC 310 (conductor ampacity), NEC 408 (panelboards), NEC 406 (receptacles, including TR and GFCI requirements), NEC 625 (electric vehicle equipment), NEC 680 (pools and spas), and NEC 700/702 (emergency systems and optional standby for generators).

Most Land O Lakes master-planned communities have HOA architectural review committees and Community Development Districts (CDDs). Common Land O Lakes HOA triggers for electrical work: visible exterior conduit, generator placements (especially screened-and-painted enclosure requirements), exterior lighting changes that affect the curb appearance, and EV charger installations on the side of the home visible from the street. We help with the ARC submittal where required.

Utility coordination in Land O Lakes splits between Duke Energy (most subdivisions) and Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative (WREC, in some of the eastern and rural areas). For panel replacements and service upgrades, we coordinate the disconnect/reconnect with the appropriate utility well in advance.

By the numbers

Pasco County is in the lightning capital corridor of the United States. Whole-home Type 2 surge protection at the panel plus point-of-use Type 3 protection at AV racks, well-pump controls, and major appliances is the minimum baseline for any Land O Lakes home.

I will recommend Titan and Electric to everyone I know. Not only are they professional but they honored everything they said and got the job done quickly and efficiently while still being friendly. I called in the morning and I had my new water heater by the afternoon. Thank you so much for a wonderful job!

My water heater broke and they came on time the following morning. They repaired it in record time at a reasonable price. I would recommend them to anyone because I was very pleased.

Awesome company! They came in and replaced my hot water heater and they are friendly, efficient, fast and great at what they do! For any of my future plumbing needs I will be calling Titan Plumbing! Thank you!

We recently had our two water heaters replaced. Ariel did a great job making sure that they were installed and working. We have an older house and Ariel had to solve some connection issues to get everything installed and operational. Titan was professional and skilled and the hot water and water pressure are great now.

After this year's hurricanes, Titan is the only business I can rely on to show up when they say they will be there. Months after the storms blew through, we struggle to work with any company because the supply chain is so limited. I wish all companies were as honest as Titan. Their field technicians are not only highly skilled but very kind. Thank you Titan for your enduring commitment to integrity and great service!

Scott of Titan Plumbing replaced a troublesome tankless water heater for me today (a Saturday) and did a very good job! He was professional, courteous, and efficient in his efforts. I will recommend him in the future!

Jed is a very professional and experienced plumber. He remained efficient while being very personable at the same time. Excellent job!

We are a first-time customer of Titan Plumbing and Electric. We can not say enough about how satisfied we are with their service. Their prices are very reasonable. Anthony, our serviceman, was prompt, kind, polite, efficient, clean and very professional. The company is family owned and we will have NO reservation hiring them to do more work for us in the future.

Service tech arrived promptly and was friendly and professional. Definitely recommend them!

Quick and professional. Job was done before I even arrived at the rental property. Would recommend for drain cleaning.

Kitchen sink blockage was fixed. Great job done. Courteous and professional.

Jed was very polite and knowledgeable, was able to explain the repair details clearly.

Jed was amazing and was able to fix our issue very quick! We appreciate his kindness and his quickness. If ever in the future we need service again we will ask for Jed.

Solid company. Cares about their customers.

Jed from Titan ran a new water line and hooked up a new sink for our outdoor kitchen. Jed was very polite and efficient, and did a great job for us!

I was running late getting home and the plumber waited for an hour on me. I appreciate him and his partner's patience. They fixed my issue fast and didn't complain. I haven't had a problem with my plumbing thus far. This is the company I would love to come fix my plumbing issues and I will refer them to friends in a heartbeat.

Very impressed. Was in a bind on a Saturday. Victor came out within 90 minutes of my call and was very knowledgeable about the Flologic leak detection system we had that showed a possible leak. Within 15 minutes he advised the issue was with the valve for that system that got stuck in the off position. He fixed it, tested the system and we were good to go. I'm very thankful for getting in touch with the right company. Victor was very professional, friendly, and if we have any further plumbing or electric issues we will call Titan.

They never let me down. Whenever I called them for an urgent matter, Travis and the dispatcher were incredibly helpful. They were punctual and resolved the issue promptly. I definitely plan to use them again.

Thank you to Travis, Brian, and Pete at Titan! We had a great experience with their plumbing and electrical work. They showed up on time, were easy to communicate with, and got everything done quickly and professionally. The plumbing issues were fixed without any hassle, and the electrical work was completed neatly and works perfectly. They explained everything along the way, cleaned up after themselves, and were respectful of our home. Highly recommend them for any plumbing or electrical needs.

Travis, employed by Titan Plumbing, is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. The son of the owner, he treats people with 110% satisfaction. Great guy. I tell all my neighbors and friends about the job he did.

Do you really answer the phone Mon-Sat?

Yes. A real Tampa dispatcher answers every call, Monday through Saturday. For active leaks, sewer backups, and electrical hazards, we dispatch a licensed technician fast.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We hold three Florida licenses: Plumbing CFC1430231, Electrical EC13012958, and General Contractor CBC057910. We are fully insured and bonded, and you can verify our A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

How does your pricing work?

Flat-rate, up front. The technician diagnoses the issue, then quotes the full price before any work begins. No hourly meter, no surprise add-ons. If the scope changes, we re-quote and you re-approve.

How fast can you be there?

Same-day in most of Tampa Bay for non-emergency work. For true emergencies (active leaks, no water, electrical hazards), we dispatch immediately and most calls see a technician right away.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing for qualifying repairs and installations, including water heaters, repipes, panel replacements, and standby generators. Ask your technician for current rates and terms.

Do you stand behind your work?

Every job. If you are not satisfied with the work we performed, we come back and fix it at no additional cost. We have built our reputation on that promise since 1994.
